Caterham & District Horticultural Society News

April 12, 2017

If you want further info on the below information from C&D H society please let me know by email caterhamhillwi@gmail.com and I will forward the PDF's to you - Thanks Elaine x

We have a competitive class in the Summer Show that has seen excellent exhibits from local Women's Institutes and Beechwood Women's Group in previous years. The theme this year is '40 years since Elvis left the building', so there is a fun element to making this 4 feet by 2 feet table top exhibit of produce and/ or handicrafts. If you'd like to enter in July, then all details are in the attached schedule, or else feel free to contact Janet Manning for a fuller explanation j.manning@waitrose.com. We often seek further promotional opportunities for the exhibits e.g. display in a shop window after the show.

Kind regards,
Debbie Fox, Chairman, Caterham & District Horticultural Society.

Chairman’s talks

Debbie Fox gave a talk on the joys of East Surrey’s gardening past on 1 March. Around 100 Bourne Society members heard about the great gardens of Caterham and how your Society has thrived over the years. Would you have anything from our past in your attic? We have recently been given a book of the Society’s annual minutes from 1927-1961, a real treasure.

Another opportunity to hear about this love of gardening in our area, comes on 13 June at East Surrey College in Redhill. The free talk must be booked well in advance via www.esc.ac.uk (do a search for gardening). Or call the Enrolment Team on Enrolment Team on 01737 788445. The talk code is AADE3XBXA.
